Responsible for the scheduling of all corrective and preventive maintenance Work Orders in a way
that efficient and effective execution of the work is assured.
Safeguarding the continuity of the operation by optimizing the execution of planned work orders and
identifying suitable time slots for execution.

The Scheduler is responsible for:

  • Analyzing the different work orders and activities within work orders to identify what activities (within one work order or from several different work orders) can be grouped to ensure efficient execution
  • Getting agreement on preliminary time slot of grouped activities with the asset owner
  • Consulting with operations to discuss possible time slots for the individual and/or grouped activities given the earliest possible start date, the due date, the priority, and the duration in combination with the asset availability
  • Scheduling activities within the work orders so that the work can be carried out effectively and efficiently
  • ensuring availability of the required materials, tools, labor, etc. and how they will be made available prior to scheduling the work for execution
  • Determining the necessary permits for the individual and/or grouped activities and request for these permits
  • Determining the (final) time slot for execution of all activities, together with the Operations Planner, given the earliest start date, the due date, the priority, and the duration in combination with the asset availability
  • Informing the contractors and subcontractors of the schedule for the individual and/or grouped work order activities
  • Communicating with third party personnel in regards to job scope requirements
  • Assessing feedback activities, determine whether further repairs are necessary and registering feedback information in the CMMS
  • Categorizing daily safety, reactive, emergency and PM Work Orders for evaluations
  • Rescheduling any work order activities that cannot be completed due to delays in the execution of the work orders
  • Coordinating with the Operations Planner to ensure proper completion of assignments and transfer and release of installations in collaboration with the Operations department
  • Coordinating the Maintenance daily work order completion recap meeting with the Maintenance Supervisor and adjusting the schedule for any uncompleted work order activities
  • Meeting every morning with the Operations Planner to verify that there are no restrictions and/or interruptions to the scheduled work order activities for that day
  • Serving as Maintenance Planner back-up and assuming delegated responsibilities of Maintenance Supervisor in his/her absence
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 5-10 years maintenance / technical experience at a petroleum, chemical or similar industry plant; terminal experience preferred
  • In depth understanding of terminal equipment including utility systems, tankage, pumps, and docks; (un)loading equipment, experience with coatings used in industrial applications
  • Proven and demonstrated work order scheduling experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, construction and other technical specs, drawings, schematics, plans, and similar documents
  • Excellent computer skills including maintenance management systems (as Infor, SAP, etc.) Microsoft Office suite, various email and internet programs and applications
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written
