On the 11th March we joined Major Elizabeth Winfield, Commanding Officer at the Army Training Regiment Winchester in a training day.
Her officers put the team through their paces - we trained on the low wires before graduating to the high wires. Climbing as a team to the top of a 13 metre high structure. We were trained in using air rifles in the firing range (so beware of the deadly recruitment force we now boast at Highfield.)
The day concluded with the leap of faith - a trust fall into nothingness, putting our lives in the hands of a small harness!
We were invited on the day off the back of our charity work for the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST).
~~The Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST) is a Service charity that exists to accelerate the recovery of wounded, injured or sick military personnel and veterans. This is done through the medium of performance alpine skiing, snowboarding and Nordic/biathlon, providing a winter sports focus for disabled athletes to regain their spirit of challenge and competition. In the best cases, the charity has turned brutally wounded soldiers, sailors and airmen into Paralympic Athletes. It changes lives daily, but it is expensive and needs your support.
