In March 2012, The Highfield Company partnered with the UK Charity Tearfund on a project to improve access to clean and safe drinking water for students in 6 schools in Northern Afghanistan, as well as providing them with improved hygiene and sanitation facilities and practices. This will be achieved through the rehabilitation of existing broken water supply facilities and sanitation services, the installation of hand washing hygiene amenities, and through the promotion of improved hygiene and sanitation practices.
The two key areas are to improve access to safe drinking water supply facilities and improve hygiene and sanitation practices for at least 5,392 students (at least 2,942 boys and 2,450 girls) in 6 schools
