ROLE: MEP Design ManagerSALARY: Upto £65,000 Plus Attractive SalaryLOCATION: Middlesborough The Highfield Company has been exclusively appointed to recruit for an MEP Design Manager to provide project based MEP design management and MEP design coordination. This includes managing the design process relative to the MEP installation, sub-contract/supply chain design and to provide design and technical support to the site MEP team.The Project; £250m Design and Build ProjectKey Areas of Responsibility;Understand the clients brief, ER's, specification and drawings (but specifically the MEP elements) and as far as practicable ensure the project is built accordingly, assisting in the resolution of any ER discrepancies with the commercial team as they ariseLiaise with the MEP Project Manager, MEP Manager, Mech Manager & Elec Manager to ensure timely development of an efficient and robust MEP designDevelop the Design Risk Assessment (DRA) and assist in the ongoing Technical AuditsProduce the information release schedule (IRS) MEP using ACL pro-forma docs and formally agree it with the Design TeamChair and manage MEP design team meetings including production and issue of minutes in a timely mannerManage and track the design development process, using CDCP, RFI protocols, tech subs, etc.Develop sub-contractors and Suppliers design/specs with the design team ensuring that full ER and Statutory compliance is metCo-ordinate drawings and check that the drawings comply with the ER's and StandardsBe actively involved with site QA particularly at the commencement of a new activity to ensure that we are building to and installing components and details as prescribed in the ER's. Make arrangements for the suppliers technical / QA staffs to be in attendance so they can sign off the control samplesUse the ACL Project Completion Matrix to track the design and technical close out of the project relative to the MEP installation and its interface with the building fabricYou will have substantial experience in a commercial setting, having worked with a construction environment. You will also have strong technical design and project delivery experience as you will be managing the MEP design packages across multiple projects. This role calls upon an engineer who can develop strong relationships with clients and MEP subcontractors.
